BIRDS AT THE EXPO
At this point (March 31, 2023), OMAFRA/CFIA are currently monitoring HPAI (Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza) with the return of Migratory birds to Ontario and CPE is on watch for this issue.
Expo patrons who wish to attend the show with their pet bird(s) will be allowed to do so with an accompanying pet waiver. In addition to the waiver, we ask that you consider some other factors before attending the show with your pet bird:
- Have I been in direct contact with poultry, waterfowl, or wild birds recently?
- Have I been in contact with poultry, waterfowl, or wild bird feces?
- Has my pet bird(s) displayed any signs of illness recently?
If you answered “Yes’ to any of these questions, you may want to opt out of bringing your bird(s) to the expo. We appreciate your consideration for both the safety of your bird(s), as well as other people’s pets. We look forward to seeing you at the show!
If the government issues a compliance order for Ontario, the Bird Zone will still be open at the Expo, however no birds will be able to attend the show. Please check back on the CPE website for the current status of birds on the premises prior to attending the show.
